1. Associate Member program
Unlike every other fraternity on campus, Lambda Chi Alpha does not have a pledge program. Instead, Lambda Chi utilizes the Associate Member program. At Lambda Chi, all incoming - or associate - members have the same rights as active members. Associate members can attend chapter and vote at chapter. There is no division of class when it comes to chores and duties around the house. Lambda Chi Alpha has a strict no hazing policy.
2. Academics
Grades among Greek students are on average much higher than those grades of non-Greek students. Academics are stressed at Lambda Chi Alpha as we consistenly have above a 3.0 house GPA and are generally in the top quartile of grades among all fraternities.
3. Intramurals
Lambda Chi Alpha has finished 2nd among 23 Fraternities the last two years in overall intramural competition. With All-Fraternity Championships in Soccer and Basketball, Lambda Chi looks poised to take the Intramural trophy this year among fraternities.
4. Social Life
Lambda Chi Alpha has four to five registered social events each semester. These range from the Halloween Date Party, where we charter buses to the Haunted Houses in Kansas City, to our Spring White Rose Formal where we also travel to KC to attend a Royals game on Friday night followed by a formal dinner and dance at the Plaza Marriot on Saturday evening.
5. Philanthropy and Involvement
Our most famous philanthropy is our Watermelon Bust in the fall. An entire city block in Downtown Manhattan is blocked off and ALL 11 sororities participate in games and events involving watermelon. All proceeds are donated to the Flint Hills Breadbasket in Manhattan, so the money raised benefits the local community. There are lots of ways to get involved as a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, whether on-campus or in the house, and there are many leadership opportunities.
